SS/HG Awards on hiatus for summer, but ...
Round Three is coming soon!

We will begin accepting nominations for the post-DH round of the SS/HG Awards in August. Be on the lookout for future posts regarding new categories and asking for feedback from the last round.

In the meantime, [info]the_new_library is running their first round of awards at [info]tnl_awards. TNL recognizes new and/or underappreciated authors and fics fandom-wide.

In regards to the results...
I was contacted by [info]sshg316 about overseeing the nomination and voting period of this round of [info]sshg_awards. She told me that she was looking for someone that was not an author with a story eligible to run in this round of awards and someone that was not previously associated with any of the current mods. And after a few questions on my part, I agreed.

[info]sshg316 made me a maintainer of the community and gave me access to the community email account so that I was able to have full view of all the nominations/votes as they were made. In this way, the mods could not filter any of the results. Having full access to the raw data, I was able to verify each and every nomination/vote.

At the end of both the nominations and voting period, I conducted my own count of the stories and compared the numbers to those that were sent to me from the mods. And after having done that, I can verify that the results posted to the community as being legitimate.

That's what you really want to know, isn't it?

The results have been tabulated, double-checked, triple-checked, and sent off to the lovely [info]pearle9240 who is now hard at work making the banners. Yay for Pearle!

Winners will be announced Monday, May 5.

The Big Ol' Nom List
As we did after Round One, we are now releasing the list of all the stories that were nominated for Round Two. If you thought the last list was huge ....

Under the cut you will find just shy of 400 fics, in alphabetical order, thanks to the fabulous [info]mollyssister who compiled and coded everything for us. Isn't she wonderful? There were a few nominations for stories that were not eligible for this round -- I don't believe those were included in this listing.

Let us know if a link doesn't work! Happy Reading!

SS/HG Awards update
Just a reminder ...

There are two weeks left to vote! I hope you all are enjoying reading (or re-reading) the nominees!

Just a note ...
The Petulant Poetess seems to be temporarily unavailable for some users. I'm sure the issue will be resolved soon, but I know a lot of people are reading for the awards right now, and we've received a few emails from people wanting know if there are alternate links to stories.

So, just a reminder that most of these stories are available at multiple archives. If you are one of the ones who cannot get onto TPP and are trying to read a story that provides a link there, you may be able to find it at one of other archives. See the link list on the right for links to many other archives that host SS/HG fics.

Thank you, and happy reading and voting!

A reminder about voting!
Hi everyone! We have been amazed by the number of votes we have received already! What a fabulous response, and it's only been three days!

One quick reminder: Please remember, you can only vote once. That means one email or comment. Yes, that is different from nominations where you can nominate at any time. But for our sanity, and for ease of record keeping, we ask that you wait and send in all your votes at once.

THANK YOU!

Just a suggestion:
I, for one, am admitting to not having read all of the nominated stories for this round. And, as some of you well know, my memory bites!! :) So, I've made a pledge to start from the top of the list to read/reread the entire nominated list. I'm also going to review each one. If I've already read and reviewed your fic, please don't think me daft for reviewing again. Please?

My challenge/suggestion to you, if you haven't read them or you need a refresher on a certain fic, please review again—even if all you put is "Congrats and good luck on the sshg_awards!" Your comments will not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Thank you to all of those who've voted thus far! You guys are amazing!

And the nominees are ...
Under the cut are the official nominees for Moste Potente Passions Round Two: Property of the Half-Blood Prince. Congratulations to all the nominees!

This is simply for your perusal. DO NOT VOTE YET!!

VOTING BEGINS April 1 as soon as I post the Voting Post, which will most likely be midnight central time in the US. So, a little over an hour from now, roughly. ;)

PLEASE NOTE: There are a lot of nominees. We decided it wasn't a good idea to change the rules midway through a round, with the exception of saying "there must be two nominations to qualify." That dropped one category from around 40 (which was just unreasonable to expect people to read) to 3.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Also, if you notice any wrong or broken links, please let us know!

Thanks everyone!

EDIT: A huge thanks to [info]renitaleandra for going over all the noms with a fine-tooth comb to be sure everything was on the up and up!

The Nominees for Round Two )

31 March 2008 @ 01:09 pm
Nominations
Nominees for the second round are being contacted this afternoon. This could take most of the day. As soon as all the emails are out, I will post the list of nominees here. :)

Also, after much discussion, we decided to run all of the nominees, after the two nominations to be eligible rule was implemented. That means the number of stories per category ranges from 3 (that's the one that could have been 40) to 16. So, there is a wide range. Three is the minimum a category needs to run, as per the rules.

Once the the list posts, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

Thank you!

HELP!
Thank you so much for those of you who voted in the poll. It looks as though we will be running all of the nominations. And for the most part, it won't be too bad. There are few categories with rather large number (19!), but over all it looks good.

One thing might help. Could we PLEASE set a minimum number of nominations in order to be eligible? For example, for a fic to be eligible, it has to have at least two nominations. If we don't do this, one category will have 45 nominees.

*blinks*

Yes, you read that right. Forty-five. FOUR TEE FIVE.

So, if you agree, we'd like to institute that as a rule. In order to be eligible for final nomination in a particular category, a fic/author must have at least two votes.

Comment at will.

Thanks!

Shug (who doesn't recall this being so complicated last time 'round ...)

*** Award Community Members ***
Ladies, we need your help. We created this community with your involvement in mind. You've made it a great success, which brings us to a dilemma. This round of nominations is well over 1300. This has caused many ties for sixth and seventh place in every category, save one or two. So, there's a poll attached to this post. Please let us know how you feel about the tie-breakers, extra nominees, etc. Again, this is a community that listens to its members. Talk to us. :)

Announcement
We are in the process of entering the last of the nominations into the spreadsheet. As I've looked things over, it looks as if one or two of the mods may be on the final nominee list. I'm not sure yet, as the all of the entries are not yet in, but just in case, I have contacted [info]renitaleandra, who is not affiliated with the awards nor does she beta for any of the mods, to be sort of a watchdog. She will be an extra set of eyes, double checking the nominations against what has been entered into the spreadsheet.

We do not want there to be any questions regarding vote counts, which is why we are doing this. If you all feel it is necessary, we can ask someone from outside the 'ship to double check [info]renitaleandra's findings.

If you have questions or concerns about this, please feel free to leave a comment.

Thanks, again, to everyone who participated!
